Price terms as published

Each line is the vendor’s own wording, split from the price capture checked on 2026-10-19. Nothing here is rounded, converted or re-worded — the full sentences stay in the review below. Lines that carry only a price continue the plan named on the line above, in the vendor’s own order.

HeyGen is the AI avatar-video tool — you feed it a script, it renders a talking head (yours, a stock avatar, or a cloned one) reading it in 175+ languages. It is also, in 2026, one of the tools whose pricing page generates the most “wait, what am I actually buying?” questions, because the plans are denominated in credits rather than videos. We captured heygen.com/pricing on 2026-09-02 and re-verified the plan ladder on 2026-09-15 (monthly prices and credit allotments unchanged) and laid the numbers out plainly.

The plan ladder (official page, captured 2026-09-02, re-verified 2026-09-15, 2026-10-06, 2026-10-12, 2026-10-15 and again 2026-10-19 with no price change)

Plan Price Monthly credits What unlocks
Free $0 — 3 videos/month, ≤1 min each, 1080p, watermark
Creator $29/mo ($24/mo billed annually, $288/yr) 600 Videos up to 30 min, watermark removal, 1 voice clone, premium voices
Pro (entry tier) $49/mo ($41/mo annual, $488/yr) 1,000 4K export, all Advanced AI models, customizable monthly usage
Pro (higher tiers) $74–$4,300/mo 1,500–100,000 Same features — only the credit pool scales
Business $149/mo + $20/seat ($119/mo annual base) 1,500 Team collab, central billing, ≤60-min videos, n8n/Make/HubSpot/Zapier integrations
Enterprise contact sales custom Flexible credits, no duration limits, API at scale

There is also a $5 pay-as-you-go entry with no subscription — 100% variable cost, core video-generation and TTS APIs included. If you only need one explainer video, that route is cheaper than any plan and HeyGen says so on its own FAQ.

What credits actually mean

Three things the plan tables don’t shout:

  1. Credits are consumed per render, not per video — duration, resolution, and model choice all change the burn rate. A 1-minute 1080p draft and a 4K final cut of the same script cost different amounts.
  2. 600 credits is the Creator number you’ll see quoted everywhere, and it’s why the plan is a “regular publisher” tier, not a hobby tier: rough it out and you’re looking at single-digit finished minutes per month before re-renders eat the rest.
  3. Rollover exists but is short: unused credits roll 1 month on monthly plans (or to the end of your annual term). They are not a bank.

The Pro ladder is the tell: $49 for 1,000 credits up to $4,300 for 100,000 — identical features, pure volume pricing. HeyGen has quietly moved from “which plan” to “how much do you produce.”

How this compares to the noise

Third-party trackers still quote stale per-video limits (“3 videos/month”) as if they were the paid plans’ structure; the official 2026-09-02 page frames those as free-tier-only, with paid plans credit-metered instead. Where a conflict existed, this with the official page and the official FAQ answers, both captured today.

The rating (editor’s, official-spec basis)

4/5. On paper and market position, HeyGen is the category leader — the avatar quality, 175-language localization, and the no-subscription $5 pay-as-you-go entry are genuinely ahead of the pack. The docked star is the credit economics: plans are metered by renders rather than finished videos, so 600 Creator credits buy fewer publishable minutes than the sticker price implies, and the Pro ladder ($49 → $4,300) charges almost entirely for volume. This score reflects the published spec and pricing structure, not first-person production use; it moves to a hands-on rating only if we log a real render-cost test.

Who should pay what

  • Trying the format: Free, or the $5 pay-as-you-go. Don’t subscribe to test.
  • One consistent channel, weekly cadence: Creator $29 annual ($24/mo) — but watch the 600-credit ceiling for two months before committing a year.
  • Client work / brand videos: Pro $49 (4K is the gating feature, not credits) or Business if more than one person touches the timeline.
  • Programmatic video at scale: talk to sales; the pay-as-you-go API math beats seat plans once volume is real.

Methodology & sources

  • heygen.com/pricing captured 2026-09-02 (web extract + full page HTML, both same day): plan table, credit tiers, FAQ JSON-LD, structured pricing data embedded in the page; monthly prices, per-tier credit allotments, Free-tier limits, and seat charge re-verified against the same official page on 2026-09-15, again on 2026-10-12 and again on 2026-10-15 with no changes (Free / Creator $29 / Pro from $49). Annual effective rates ($24/$41/$119) are rendered at checkout and remain as captured 2026-09-02.
  • HeyGen’s own published FAQ answers on the same page confirm the Free/Creator/Pro/ Business structure quoted above.
  • This is a terms-and-pricing analysis, not a hands-on review (reviewType: official). The 4/5 rating is an editor’s score on the official spec basis; no first-person production use is claimed.
  • Cross-source note: independent tracker pages for 2026 HeyGen pricing were fetched the same day but rendered without parseable figures; where secondary claims conflicted with the official page (see above), official wins and the conflict is disclosed.
