Price terms as published
Each line is the vendor’s own wording, split from the price capture checked on 2026-10-14. Nothing here is rounded, converted or re-worded — the full sentences stay in the review below. Lines that carry only a price continue the plan named on the line above, in the vendor’s own order.
| # | Plan / term | Checked |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Credit packs from $4.99 (1,100 credits) — subscriptions $12.90/mo or $129.90/yr | 2026-10-14 |

One-liner: MangaTranslate is a browser tool from Ficory LLC that reads the text inside a manga page, translates it, and puts the translated lettering back where the original sat — and unlike most of this category, you can try it without making an account. We did, on a test page we drew ourselves, and the output held up. The honest caveats are all about the edges: a watermark on the free path, marketing numbers you can’t verify, and a credit system that needs one careful read before you pay.
What we actually did (2026-10-14)
We created an original two-panel test page with four pieces of Japanese text — three dialogue lines inside speech bubbles plus one sound effect (ドドド) outside them — uploaded it to the public tool at mangatranslate.com/ai-manga-translator/, set source Japanese → target English, left the model on the default Manga (1 credit) setting, and let it run on the guest quota, no account created.
It completed, and it charged a credit off the guest balance (the counter dropped as the job ran).
Output, verbatim, as rendered on our page:
| Original Japanese | What came back |
|---|---|
| おはよう、今日も訓練だ | MORNING. TRAINING AGAIN TODAY. |
| 了解した! | UNDERSTOOD! |
| この街は静かすぎる… | THIS TOWN IS TOO QUIET... |
| ドドド (sound effect) | *RUMBLE* |
All four are correct translations of what we wrote. The three dialogue lines landed inside their original bubbles, in position, in a manga-style all-caps face; the source Japanese was fully removed with no leftover glyphs. The sound effect was re-set as bracketed text rather than stylised SFX art — reasonable, but it is a text replacement, not redrawn lettering.
Two things from the same run that the marketing page doesn’t put in front of you:
- The guest output is watermarked. A
MANGATRANSLATE.COMmark sits in the bottom-right corner of the returned image. - The site’s own hero copy in the same session advertised formats and limits that don’t match what the tool panel said (“up to 15MB each page” in one panel, “up to 100MB” in another). Minor, but it tells you the copy is machine-varied across locales.
We did not test the Studio editor, batch uploads, the API, or any language pair other than Japanese → English. One page, one direction, one model. Anything beyond that in this review is sourced from the vendor’s own pages, and labelled as such.

Pricing, read off the official pricing page on 2026-10-14:
| Plan | Credits | Price | Effective |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter (one-time) | 1,100 | $4.99 | $0.005 / credit |
| Pro (one-time) | 4,600 | $19.90 | $0.004 / credit |
| Max (one-time) | 28,700 | $99.90 | $0.003 / credit |
| Monthly subscription | 3,200 / month | $12.90 / mo | $0.004 / credit |
| Yearly subscription | 41,700 / year | $129.90 / yr | $0.003 / credit |
At 1 credit per page on the default Manga model, the Max pack works out to $0.003 per translated page — the cheapest way to buy volume here. The yearly plan is the same unit price with the money committed up front. A subscription only beats a pack if you translate more than 3,200 pages in a billing period, because pack credits don’t expire on the vendor’s own wording (“Credit packs stay valid long term”) while subscription credits refresh and are described as usable within the period.
The numbers to treat as marketing
The homepage headline block claims “100,000,000+ Translations Completed” and “99% Translation Accuracy”. Neither has a published methodology, sample, or third-party source behind it, and this is a category where vendors routinely cite internal benchmarks. Our single four-line test happened to be 4 for 4 — that is one page, not a benchmark, and we’re not going to dress it up as one. Price and plan figures above are different: those are printed on the vendor’s own pricing page today and we read them there.
Who this is for
- Individual readers who want a page turned around without installing an extension: the guest path is the fastest honest trial in this category, watermark and all.
- Scanlation and small studio workflows: the value here is the editor, which we did not test — the vendor describes a Photoshop-style workspace for fixing bubbles, fonts and layout after the machine pass.
- Developers: an API is documented for submitting jobs and pulling results; also untested by us.
If you need original artwork-identical lettering with no watermark and no credit accounting, this is not that product. If you need one page in English today, the free path will do it.
Before you pay
- Check the model choice: Manga is 1 credit, Ultra is 2, EagleEye is 1. The model is chosen before you run the job, and it changes what a credit buys.
- Confirm what you’re paying for buys the watermark off — our evidence for that is the paid plan copy, not our own purchase. We have not bought a plan and this review says nothing about what a paid account’s output looks like.
- Re-read the pricing page yourself before buying. It was accurate on 2026-10-14 and vendors in this space re-price often.
